Focus Collection: Battling Sexual Assault on Campus

The pressure is on colleges to step up efforts to prevent sexual assault and handle complaints more effectively, without adding to the emotional harm experienced by the accuser or treading on the rights of the accused. Part of the pressure comes from the federal government, which in 2011 signaled stricter enforcement of the gender-equity law known as Title IX.
