The Chronicle and Ithaka S+R are partnering to produce an innovative professional development program tailored to the needs of prospective and current library leaders. This two-week program is designed to provide librarians with critical context on national trends to drive institutional success.
Your registration for this virtual program includes:
- Four 1-hour seminars, plus post-event recordings
- Up to three 2.5-hour small-group workshops on topics highly relevant to library success
- The Library of the Future, a Chronicle report
- A Visioning Roadmap to implement goals within your institutional context
- Opportunities for self- and peer-assessment
Program Structure
The first week of this program will offer all registrants a chance to dive into four core seminars. These seminars will be recorded and distributed to registrants upon their conclusion.
Seminar topics include:
- National Trends in Higher Education | July 13, 1 p.m. ET
- Understanding the Higher-Ed Business Model | July 14, 1 p.m. ET
- Academic Libraries at the Epicenter of Change | July 15, 1 p.m. ET
- Showcasing Library Impact though Data-Driven Advocacy and Storytelling | July 16, 1 p.m. ET
We've designed the Week 2 workshop component of this program to be relevant and actionable for a range of librarian roles. flexible to the role of librarians at various institutions. Select the workshop topic(s) best suited for your professional development needs and institutional context. To foster open dialogue, the workshops will not be recorded.
Topic options include:

Change Management | July 20 or July 21: This session equips library leaders to lead organizational change with clarity and resilience with tools, frameworks, and real-world strategies using group exercises and applied planning.
- AI as Implemented in Academic Libraries | July 22: This session helps library leaders navigate the rapidly evolving AI landscape and utilize new technology to increase efficiency within their day-to-day tasks.
- Open Education in Teaching & Learning: Libraries Leading the Way | July 23: This session explores how libraries can lead efforts to transform student learning access through the curation of and advocacy for open educational resources.
Program Pricing
We offer multi-topic registration for individuals interested in more than one workshop. Please select the Two- or Three-Workshop options at checkout, and our workshops team will reach out to you for scheduling.
The pricing of each package is as follows:
- Single-Workshop Package: $995
- Two-Workshop Package: $1,395
- Three-Workshop Package: $1,695
